Not many horses jump the last in eighth and win at Kilbeggan but Win Some Lose Some (3/1) accomplished that feat under Mark Walsh in the first division of the William Hill Epic Value Maiden Hurdle.
The Champs Elysees five-year-old got a good jump at that final flight and finished with a flourish, weaving his way between rivals to beat Two Become One by a length and a half.
Padraig Roche, who trains the winner for J P McManus, said: “It was probably a weak race but it was grand to get a win with him. Mark said the better ground probably helped him and he picked up the pieces.
“I’d say he’ll stay around for the summer.”
