Robert Tyner has his string in great form at present and Who Let De Dogsout provided the Kinsale handler with his fourth winner in the past fortnight when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle.
The six-year-old mare, owned by Carrigaline-based engineering contractor Martin O’Callaghan, headed the front-running Sizing Coal (9/4fav) at the penultimate flight.
The 8/1 chance reached for the final flight but got away with it, and kept on well on the run-in for Philip Enright to beat the favourite by a length and a half.
The pair drew ten lengths clear of Spot Fine in third.
Tyner said, “She is tough and honest and getting the 8lb allowance (for not winning previously) was a big help.
“Philip learned a lot about her the last day. She ran free in her bumper so we decided to drop her in last time but if she was ridden differently she would have been a lot closer. Philip came in the last day and said we rode her the wrong way. She took a while to win a point-to-point, probably wants it soft and will go chasing next season.”
Enright said, “Conditions suited her today getting all the allowances. Sizing Coal made it a good test of stamina, I tracked him and she’s done it nicely in the end. She jumps very well but just took a chance at the last.”
