Diylawa made the breakthrough at the sixth time of asking when landing the final race of the Irish turf flat season.

The Aga Khan was represented by three horses in this mile and one maiden, but it was Diylawa who took the winner’s share.

Shane Foley made his move a furlong and a half out and she assumed the lead at the furlong pole. He kept the three-year-old filly up to her work to ensure that second place was the best position that the John Oxx-trained Shorana could get. The runner-up was also owned by the Aga Khan and went off at 11/2.

This winner gave Foley a Leopardstown treble today.

“She's been running so consistently and deserved to win her maiden. It's a lovely way to finish out the season,” trainer Mick Halford said.

“Her last run entitled her to have every chance. It would have been a shame for the year to go by without her winning.”

Diylawa’s success gave Halford a double on this card as Prologue won race three. Kaleefa the third Aga Khan horse, went off the 13/8 favourite but came home seventh for Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen.
