Gordon Elliott supplied the opening three winners at Limerick and Naas today, as his So Des Flos completed the trainer's hat-trick at the Munster venue, in the Supermac's Maiden Hurdle.
Ridden by Denis O'Regan, the son of Joshua Tree improved on two recent placed efforts when battling well for a two and a quarter lengths win over Castle Field Boy
O'Regan reported “I tried to keep it simple as I thought it might get tactical and he wouldn't be a horse for a tactical race. I thought they went very quick for the first five furlongs but slowed and I passed a few. He stays and gallops and was in great form today, it was a good performance.
“I had been riding Castle Field Boy on his last few runs and was nervous of him when he came upsides me, but my lad had a little more today.
“So Des Flos is a fine big horse and you wouldn't expect him to be as nimble as he is over his hurdles. He is a proper chaser and a big huge horse.”
