Robert Tyner and Philip Enright have enjoyed a dream run in recent months, and the pair were back in the winners’ enclosure again as Tooreen took the three-mile handicap hurdle.

The Gold Well mare contributed to a treble on the day for the same connections when successful over course and distance four weeks ago, and stamina again proved her forte.

Enright drove the 7/2 favourite into the lead approaching two out and, despite hitting the final flight, kept on strongly on the run-in to deny Charles Magnes by three lengths. Carrow Queen weakened after the penultimate to finish a further ten lengths back in third, with Rory’s Brother in fourth.

Tyner said, “It was a top class ride as we thought we might have to make it. It looked as though the other horse (Charles Magnus) was coming back at us before the last.

“She failed to win her point-to-point and then won her bumper over two miles. But she needs a trip so we’re still learning about her. She’s entered at Limerick next Wednesday under a 4lb penalty in a 2m6f handicap.”
