Tom Horn rewards odds-on backers
Odds on favourite Tom Horn took the two mile four furlong hurdle at Bellewstown with a game effort from the front to win by a length.
Paul Carberry fended off Inspector Clouseau and Ruby Walsh and Priors Gold and Keith Donoghue to reward those who had taken the 4/5.
Carberry said: “I thought I was better off to let him roll along in front as I was thinking Ruby’s horse would try and do me for speed.
“He kept going well to the line.
“He was a bit spooky at the start but overall he was grand.”
Priors Gold was supported from 9/2 to 11/4 on course while Inspector Clouseau drifted from an opening 5/2 to 4/1.
The stewards enquired into possible interference from Ruby Walsh's mount Inspector Clouseau to Priors Gold ridden by Keith Donoghue, as they came to the last.
The stewards decided that the interference did not improve Inspector Clouseau's finishing position but they cautioned Ruby Walsh to ride with more care.
