Tobann showed the benefit of her seasonal reappearance at the Curragh earlier this month when pulverising 15 rivals in the seven-furlong maiden at Gowran Park.
The daughter of Teofilo was no match for the impressive Moth when fourth last time but put that effort behind her with a very impressive success here.
Kevin Manning sent her on just under two furlongs out, and the 9/1 chance went right away in the final furlong for a runaway seven-length verdict over Silver Lightening (7/2). Scotland Forever who was well-backed on track from 10/1 down to half those odds, could find no extra when headed by the winner and weakened to finish another neck away in third.
The uneasy 5/2 favourite Cocktail Hour was prominent until early in the straight eventually finishing fourth.
Successful trainer Jim Bolger said, “She was good there, although she lost the plot the last day. I have her in the Athasi Stakes (Group 3 at the Curragh, May 6), and I’d be tempted to run her there.
“I was a little surprised she handled the ground as she was one of the lighter fillies in the race.”
