Jim Gorman recorded his third win in-a-row as his Wrekin Rock took the Linda's Love Supporting Irish Autism Apprentice Handicap under Megan Carberry.

The 4yo gelded son of Statue Of Liberty was recording his second success of the season having won over the course and distance in May.

He is a versatile sort having also won his maiden hurdle last November at Gowran.

The Lester Winters trained Jeremy's Girl attempted to make all under Shane Gray with the winner tracking her in second.

The pair were clear of the remainder with six furlongs left to race and after a battle up the home straight Wrekin Rock just found more close home to edge ahead inside the final 100 yards and go on to win by three parts of a length at the line.

Wrekin Rock and Jeremy's Girl were returned the 9/4 joint favourites while early morning favourite Mudaffar (7/4 with Paddy Powers) drifted out to 11/4 at the off and finished fourth.

Winning trainer Jim Gorman said afterwards: "He stayed at it well. He was given a fair blow as he was out for a while and is just back in five weeks. That will leave him right for his next run which will probably be over hurdles.

"He is a good jumper of hurdles and he is very genuine and gives everything even with no whips today (as it was an apprentice race).

"Really heavy ground doesn’t suit him as he is flat bred. I told Megan to sit in on him and take it up in the straight but they found it hard to get by the leader.

"He will probably go to Listowel now for a conditions hurdle or a handicap hurdle unless he pops out of this very well he could go for another flat race.

"I hope the handicapper isn’t too hard on him."

After recording a double at Bellewstown on Wednesday, Wrekin Rock was providing Gorman and owners Bill and Penny Foley with their third success in-a-row.
