Mick Winters continued his blistering form when Theos Well made light of an absence of 423 days in winning the bumper at Listowel.

That initial run in July 2012 (for trainer Eugene O’Sullivan) was in Killarney and he finished second to Union Dues who has gone on to be successful in a Grade 2 bumper in Navan.

From turning into the home straight today’s result was never in doubt as 17-year-old Johnny Burke sent him on and the pair hacked up by five and a half lengths at odds of 6/1.

“On his debut run he was entitled to win. He was bought after that run. He had muscle wastage on one side and we spent a lot of time building him up,” Mick Winters said.

“I thought he would be in the first three or four today, but that he would improve for the run. I might chance a winners’ bumper in Galway in October.

“I was in school with Liam Burke and am delighted his son rode that for me.” Beluckyagain won the race for minor honours for Willie and Patrick Mullins at 6/1, seven and a half lengths in front of Wate And Sea (16/1).

Kevin Prendergast’s Bonobo the 2/1 jolly, took fourth place.
