Loup De Tallane justified support from big prices to run out a convincing winner of the 80-95 handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan for Eoin Griffin.

The French-bred had been badly hampered when unseating his rider last time at Tramore having pulled up twice previously.

He was backed from 25/1 this morning and went to post a 10/1 shot in the two-mile-three contest.

Carl Millar led before the last on the chestnut and he stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post an eight-length win over Beechroad Winnie

Griffin said:- “I’m delighted for the owners Dave Field and Eddie Aylward who have been very patient with him. He’s been one of those horses that is always picking up little niggling things and it’s been difficult to get a clear run with him.

“His recent form wouldn’t inspire you even though he was travelling well in Tramore the last day when he got brought down. I was more hopeful than confident but it’s great to get the win out of him.

“He won on heavy ground in Wexford nearly two years ago and I knew when that heavy shower came after the second race that it wouldn’t do his chances any harm.

“He’s not a winter horse and may have a run over fences before we wrap up for the winter.”
