Old Supporter stuck his head out gamely to land the spoils in the concluding handicap chase at Wexford.
Amateur Niall Kelly gave the 7/1 winner a strong drive in the closing stages to hold the challenge of Fitzgutentyte by three-parts-of-a-length.
The Peter McCreery-trained winner had taken over from front-runner Mayo Abbey before the second last and travelled best turning for home.
He stuck on well when pressed from before the final fence.
Old Supporter, a point-to-point graduate, was stepping up here having been well beaten in his first handicap chase at Killarney ten days ago.
McCreery was leading up his charge and Brian Hill the son of owner/breeder Louis Hill said:-
“Peter is leading him around as he gets highly strung. He won a point-to-point on quick ground and the ground is important to him.
“We've no plans and are just happy to get the win.”
Hill also revealed that the winner is related to Yes Sir, who won 17 races for Peter Bowen.
It was a first and last race double for Hill as a breeder as he also bred the first winner Obispo
The winning breeder is based near Punchestown and only has three mares.
It was a first winner over fences for Kelly who is based with Arthur Moore.
