Big money purchase Deeply Superficial made a perfect start to her 'track' career when claiming the opening Mulryan Auctioneers Maiden Hurdle at Galway.
The Gordon Elliott-trained filly went to post 11/8 favourite (opened 4/5) on her first start since going through the ring at Cheltenham last December for £385,000.
Davy Russell tracked the leaders on the Lingstown point-to-point winner before moving up to challenge at the second last flight in the two-miler.
She jumped to the front at the last and soon settled matters, going on for a three-and-a-quarter length win over the staying on Law Ella
Elliott trains the winner for Alymer Stud and stable representative Lisa O'Neill said afterwards:-
"Davy gave her a lovely ride and it is nice for the owner as well. She is a nice looking mare and hopefully will have a bright future.
"We knew she was more than capable of doing that but it her first run and it was a competitive race. I'm not sure where Gordon will head with her next but there are plenty of options."
