Stony Grey Soil proves too tough
Trainer John Joe Walsh and jockey Eddie Power, out of luck with narrow loser Keats Dream earlier, combined to score with Stony Grey Soil which landed the Mallow Town Summer Bbq Evening July 9th Handicap Hurdle at Cork today.
In common with Keats Dream earlier, Stony Grey Soil met the final flight all wrong and lost valuable momentum, letting The Sneezer back into the race. However, to Stony Grey Soil's credit he battled well to score a three lengths win.
Afterwards Walsh stated “I thought we had lost it at the last flight again there! Stony Grey Soil seemed to be watching some fellows on the inside of the track and that distracted him.”
He added “he is a nice horse, loves that heavy ground and will go chasing next year.”
Stony Grey Soil, as his name suggests, is owned by Monaghan based owners Noel and Ann McCabe, long standing patrons of Co Cork based Walsh.
