Alex Harvey was seen to good effect when partnering his third winner under rules aboard Khadaash in the View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium (Q.R.) Handicap.
The Kingman gelding was stepping up to two miles here on his first handicap start and wore down The Jam Man inside the final furlong.
The easy to back 10/1 shot kept on well under pressure to beat that rival by three quarters of a length, with Elzaamsan finishing best of all on the stands’ side a further length and a quarter back in third.
Winning trainer John McConnell said: "Alex is very, very good in those amateur races.
"I thought he would run a big race. He has been a horse that has caused us a lot of headaches since we got him. I don't bet, but I lost money on him in his first bumper! That's how much he showed us.
"Obviously, he likes the surface and we just have him in a good vein of form. He was just too slow for a mile and a half.
"Funny just before the race, I looked up Lingfield on Good Friday and there's a two-mile race. We might bring a few boxes (Mulgrave) and put him in. He is unexposed and it wouldn't be a bad shout.
"He'll love the surface and travels like a dream. He is entitled to have a crack at it but might not get into it.
"He's still green and that is the first time he has got his head in front. He carries his head high but that is a little bit typical of the sire. They are talented animals."
