25/1 shot Spruce Meadows prevailed in a tight finish to the Light Up Your Night Handicap at Dundalk this evening.
The runners were stretched across the track with a furlong to run and it was the John Feane-trained gelding who got his head in front, for Ben Coen, in the closing stages. Dalileo finished off well to get within half a length of the winner at the line.
“He was in good old form and he had won the Red God around here before,” said Feane.
“He was a crazy price tonight at 25/1 and they all had a few bob on him so they are delighted.
“He's had a few little issues but he's getting a bit older. I'm delighted he won and we'll see what the handicapper does now.”
