After his creditable second placing behind Samanntom at Killarney last Sunday, Lash It On made the lengthy trip from Charles Byrnes' Limerick base worthwhile when victorious in the Friday Feeling Handicap Chase at Downpatrick.
Lash It On (9/4 second favourite) got to the front on the run-in and kept on well in the closing stages under Phillip Enright to see off the staying on market-leader, Redclue and the pace-setting Camillas Wish by half a length and a length and a half.
Byrnes said: "He's a great old servant, he's back in his own grade and he has won here before. He'll mix it for the rest of the summer - fences and hurdles.
"Davy said he definitely would have won (on Reetaj in race three), he was going very easily. That takes the gloss off it.
"I've a good old record here. It's a long drive, you wouldn't come here unless you had a chance. I love the track, I think the ground is in terrific shape.
"It's a family syndicate (Byrnsey Boys)."
M.J. Ferris, rider of Pointview Gale trained by Liam Lennon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having burst a blood vessel during this race.
