Trainer Mouse Morris will have derived plenty pleasure from the win of his Baily Green who was completing a six-timer, in the Grade 3 Buck House Novice Steeplechase at Punchestown today.

The race is named in honour of Morris' initial stable star, Buck House, who won the 1986 Champion Chase, and while less is expected of Baily Green, today's win was his sixth consecutive success (five chases, one hurdle) of the year.

The winner usually makes the running but Special Tiara forced the pace today. Baily Green, under regular rider David Casey, took up the lead at the second last fence and from there went clear from the last to score another easy win.

Afterwards a delighted Morris, who was completing a double on the day following Rule The World s earlier win, stated “we were going to give Baily Green a break but he was so well and there was this Grade 3 for him and it wasn't to be sniffed at.

“I could see Baily Green coming back for something like Aintree but I'll keep my options open but he'll have to step up now.” Regarding his preference for a slightly better surface, Morris added “it's not that Baily Green doesn't go on the heavy ground, but it catches his wind.”

“David gave him a very good ride, he waited, had one crack and had to wing the second last fence.
