Jockey Mikey Sheehy grabbed his first racecourse victory when The Lady's Bid came home best in division one of the apprentice handicap at Navan.
The 10/1 shot rattled home down the outside and locked horns with Alice Milligan in the closing stages. She stuck her head out at the line to land the spoils for handler Paddy Rogers.
Alice Milligan had to settle for second at 11/2. Latchet (25/1) and Followme Followyou (11/1) came in third and fourth respectively.
“I'm delighted to get it, it's great to get the first one,” said Mikey Sheehy.
“I'm 16 and I only got my licence about two-and-a-half weeks ago.
“I'm signed on to Joseph O'Brien and thanks very much to him as he's given me loads of opportunities, so I'm very grateful.
“That's my tenth ride so hopefully I can keep going now and try and get as many rides and winners as I can.”
Sheehy's father is trainer Dusty Sheehy (who had a double at Wexford today) and his brother is jockey Danny Sheehy.
