The J.A. Shaw Handicap Hurdle was won by Ruby Walsh aboard Garrai Ard trained by Dusty Sheehy for owner Nuala Barron.

Walsh settled mount towards rear and made progress travelling well approaching 3 out, led before last and stayed on well to win by 5 ? lengths.

Dusty Sheehy said afterwards, 'she is owned by Willie & Nuala Barron they are my next door neighbours at home in Graiguenamanagh. Ruby rode her the last day and said she needed further she had been running over 2m 1/2f so that's why we ran over 2m 6f. Ruby was confident that she'd run well today and hopefully we'll pick up another handicap along the way.'
