Katherine pulled away in good style on the run-in to land the mares handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan.

The Adrian Sexton-trained mare was held up by the trainer's son Harry and started to make her move going to the final flight in the two-miler.

She hit the front on the run-in and was a good winner at the line, stretching clear for a six-length success at odds of 13/2.

The Shirocco mare was giving Sexton junior his first win since turning professional and his third in total.

He had also had his first career success on Katherine when she opened her account at Tipperary in July 2023.

He said:- “It’s an amazing day and a badly needed winner. Thanks to the owners and to my father who have supported me a lot.

“She was very classy the way she did it. We always knew she had the ability and she’s been dropped down in the handicap a bit as she’s been running below par.

“She’s got the job done today and hopefully there is another day in her.”
