Cap Saint Martin beats Iron Fist

Many horses have carried the famous green and blue Sangster colours to success at the Curragh over the years and odds-on favourite Cap Saint Martin was the latest to do so in the first division of the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden over a mile.
Third on debut at Killarney before running respectably in a Deauville Listed contest won by stablemate Apples And Bananas, the 5/6 chance had been slowly away on both of those outings but was sharper from the gates here and soon raced in second under Dylan Browne McMonagle.
The Joseph O'Brien-trained youngster, owned by Sam Sangster and Lee Warren, headed front-runner Iron Fist over a furlong out and went away to account for that rival by three-parts of a length.
"He's a gorgeous big horse who is still a work in progress and is getting better with every run. He's shown plenty and is improving,” said Browne McMonagle.
"He was slow away in France and that put him on the back foot straight away. Looking back, that was a top-class race, the form is good, and he's come forward again."
“He's still very unfurnished yet, he's a big boy. He was still green when I hit the front today but he did it well. He handles that ground and stays well.”
