Samanntom continued a good recent run for rider Mark Enright when making all for a runaway success in the Killinan Handicap Hurdle at Thurles. It was a deserved breakthrough for the seven-year-old gelding following a number of promising efforts in similar events.
The son of Portrait Gallery had his rivals well stretched turning into the straight in this 2m6f event, and Enright was looking around for non-existent dangers in the closing stages. The Grey Guy kept on one paced to finish four lengths back in second, with Lilbitluso a further two lengths adrift in third. Kilcross Boy completed the placings in fourth.
Winning trainer Aidan Fogarty said, "We've been a long time waiting for that and will now probably run at Punchestown on Wednesday. He's entered there in a 0-109 over 2m6f.
"He was sick over Christmas so didn't run and in time will make a fine chaser."
