The Willie Mullins-trained Rupert Lamb made a mockery of his 8/1 odds in the Grade C handicap hurdle at Killarney when routing a competitive looking field in good fashion.
The nine-year-old gelding swept past his rivals to lead at the second last and quickly had them all in trouble. He popped the last and was ridden out by Ruby Walsh to win by three and three quarter lengths. Draco took second spot at 9/2. He was half a length ahead of Crystal Earth (16/1). Rock On Fruity the 7/2 favourite, was eased from three out and finished ninth.
Ruby Walsh said: "We always thought he was well handicapped over hurdles on his chase form but he kept disappointing.
"His regime has been changed at home, and thankfully he came good today."
Rupert Lamb won this off a mark of 124. Prior to this success he was better known for his exploits over fences where he reached a rating of 145. His last victory came in a rated steeplechase at Naas in November 2013.
