Gavin Cromwell saddled the second, fourth and fifth home but it was his County Meath-based training colleague John McConnell that emerged with the spoils after the Galway Apprentice Handicap. McConnell's Get Out Of Jail came out on top with jockey Conor McGovern sporting the familiar Rockview Racing Club silks.
Indeed it was all Royal County joy in this mile and a half heat as third placed High Expectations is trained by Gordon Elliott at Longwood.
First-time blinkers seemed to help Get Out Of Jail to attain his first win since scoring over hurdles at Gowran in March 2016. Siempre Amigos went into many a notebook with her strong finishing effort but she failed by a length to reel in Get Out Of Jail.
In the week leading up to the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby Final at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night, it's interesting to note that Siempre Amigos is owned and was bred by leading figures in that game, Michael Dunphy and Ian Reilly.
T.P. Madden, rider of Greanta trained by Thomas Cleary, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left during this race.
G.P. Brouder, rider of Alohamora trained by J.A. Nash, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference about two furlongs from the finish.
