Breezy Bell (17/2, from 16s this morning) benefitted from positive tactics to win the 2m handicap hurdle under Chris Timmons.
The German-bred mare was bounced out to race handily alongside Ever So Cool and the pair got a break on the field from halfway. The six-year-old took the measure of Ever So Cool at the second-last and ran on well to score comfortably by eight lengths from Sil Ver Klass who came through to grab second place on the run-in.
“That was a surprise as she’s let us down so many days," said winning owner/trainer Eddie Cawley.
“I was half keeping her for the spring but the last few weeks we did a bit extra with her and with the ground here not too bad, I said we might as well take our chance.
“We changed tactics with her today and she kept jumping much better than in behind.
“I’m delighted with that and we might try her again with the same tactics. The ground is a big key to her as she doesn’t really handle soft or heavy ground.”
