Peace Envoy (3/1) delivered a finishing burst to cut down the opposition in the Group Three Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh.
Ryan Moore had him in settled in fifth before shaking him up to move into contention approaching the final furlong.
The Power colt made good headway to grab the lead with just over 100 yards to race and kept on strongly to win going away. Psychedelic Funk the 9/10 favourite, chased him home in second, beaten a length and three parts.
Ryan Moore said: "He's getting better every race. He travelled very well and I was very comfortable the whole race. When I asked him to go and win I didn't have to get serious with him but he picked up nicely and hopefully there's more to come. Every race he has just progressively got better.
"He's turned into a big, strong horse now and I'm very happy with him today. He's a handsome horse."
Aidan O'Brien said: "He's getting better this horse and is progressing well.
“He's a big horse. We thought he would progress and he is. You'd have to be very happy with him there.
“Every week he is getting better. He's getting bigger and stronger and his mind is coming lovely. Ryan was very happy with him.
“Ryan was very confident after riding him the last day as he knew the horse well. He was very confident on him.
“He could come back here for the Phoenix Stakes if Caravaggio doesn't come or he could go for the Morny.
“On today you wouldn't say he wouldn't get seven furlongs.
“He reminds me very much of Rock Of Gibraltar. Knowing Rock he's very much like him although he has a long way to come obviously.”
Peace Envoy had been mixing it in Group Two company when finishing a close fourth in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot and runner-up in the Railway Stakes here.
He had two wins on the board before today - a maiden in Dundalk and a Listed contest at Naas.
Paddy Power gave Peace Envoy a first show of 20/1 for the Commonwealth Cup.
