The Midland Legal Solicitors Flat Race became a four-horse contest after recalcitrant third-favourite Jordann was left at the start but in truth only the market principals counted as Patter Merchant got the better of Sounds Victorius
Very much preferred in the betting, last month's Dromahane maiden winner was handy throughout and got past Sounds Victorius over a furlong out. The last-named showed a good attitude to keep the 1/2 favourite honest but Harry Swan didn't have to go for everything to get his mount home in front by a neck.
Gordon Elliott said of Gigginstown's winner: “He's a nice horse, he's a horse to go jumping and you probably won't see much more of him this year. He's a horse for next year.
“Harry said he should have let him slide on, as he's just a galloper but we like him.”
Of his Savills runner-up Gerri Colombe beaten a staggering 23 lengths by the wildly impressive Galopin Des Champs Elliott reflected: "I thought he was a bit disappointing. The winner was awesome and I don't think any horse would have beaten him on the day.”
