Pat Coyne recorded his third course win when quickening up nicely on the run-in to land the Summer Flat Racing July 11th Handicap Hurdle at Tramore.
The Fairly Ransom gelding was owned and trained by John Nicholson when recording his initial success in a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle back in 2019 and has now gained a further four victories (three over fences) in the care of John Queally.
The 6/1 shot challenged on the outer at the penultimate flight and soon quickened to the front under Aidan Kelly, keeping on well on the run-in to score by a length and a half.
The 11/4 favourite Prince Zaltar got going too late staying on well in the closing stages to snatch second, with Garcon Doux half-a-length back in third.
Queally said, “That's his third win here and he'll continue to mix it between hurdles and fences. We were going to give him one or two runs over hurdles and then go back over fences but we might keep him over hurdles for a while now if we can find another few races for him.
"He is a brilliant servant. I've no immediate plan for him but he'll just go the summer route and hopefully come back here in August.
“He was so well in compared to his mark over fences. I think with Aidan's claim it was 37lb in the difference."
