The Henry de Bromhead-trained Pallaskenry got back up at the post to claim the spoils by a nose in a thrilling finish to the three-mile maiden hurdle at Wexford.
Henry De Bromhead 's charge had looked assured of victory when moving smoothly into the lead turning for home.
He came under pressure before the second last though, where he made a slight mistake, and was soon tackled by Qui Bono who had been a moderate third running down the hill.
That rival gained a narrow advantage on the run-in but Andrew Lynch conquered more from Pallaskenry in the closing stages and he just prevailed at the line.
The winner had been runner-up on his last visit to the south-east track last month.
Lynch said afterwards: "He missed the second last, he probably idled a bit then. He picked up again when the other horse came at him. He is a chaser in the making and it's grand to win a maiden hurdle with him."
