On Blueberry Hill put in a game performance to land the Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper under Kevin Power for Tim Hyde.
The 4yo son of Flemensfirth was bought by Tim Hyde Junior at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby National Hunt Sale in June of last year for €55,000.
He is a half-brother to Master Malt, who was bought by Jonjo O’Neill for £140,000 in December of last year. That fellow has finished second on his two starts to date both of which were in bumpers.
On Blueberry Hill made his debut in a point-to-point at Lemonfield just last month, finishing fourth in a competitive 4yo geldings maiden which was won by Minella Foru.
Sent off at 9/1 this evening, he was always prominent and hit the front four furlongs from home.
He was ridden entering the straight but he kept on well under pressure to score by a length and a half at the line from the Tom Mullins trained newcomer Some Hawk (16/1) in second under the trainer's son David. Draco (5/1) ran on well to take third, three and three parts of a length back, under Sarah O’Brien for her father Aidan while the well backed favourite Chancol (7/1 into 4/1 favourite on track) could only manage sixth under Jason McKeown for Noel Meade.
Tim Hyde Junior said afterwards: "He has always worked very well and we fancied him for his point-to-point but things didn’t go his way that day.
"It’s nice to win a good race like that and I’m not sure what we will do with him now. It’ll be up to Dad and we will see if the phone rings!"
