Sixteen to one shot Hurricane Twister did punters no favours in the bookmaker sponsored Seamus Mulvaney Handicap at Listowel today, as the ten year old made all for a five lengths win under jockey Sean Davis.

The son of Captain Rio, whose four wins have now all come on heavy ground, had previously ‘popped up’ at 33/1 at the May 2015 meeting and today relished the testing conditions to win for trainer Victor Clifford.

Trained Clifford was on lead-up duty but his father John Clifford later stated “he’s old enough to retire and we didn’t expect to win today and neither did anyone else I’d say!

“That was Sean’s first ride on him and today he had his ground, nothing else, and it worked out for him.“
