Eugene O'Sullivan saddled a one, two in the Emerald Contract Cleaning Hunters Chase as Turlough O'Connor partnered his first winner on the racecourse proper aboard 10/1 chance Drawn N Drank
This was a race for the layers as Drawn N Drank was followed home by 16/1 shot Cork Citizen under O'Sullivan's son Eoin, at a one length margin. There was two and three parts of a length back to 40/1 outsider Corskeagh Royale in third.
Four to six favourite Carsonstown Boy could manage only fourth of the five, whilst his market rival Court Frontier finished last.
O'Sullivan commented: "They are two nice horses with a hunter chase future. The winner was a bit fresher having not gone to Cheltenham."
The Stewards interviewed Mr E.M. O'Sullivan, rider of Cork Citizen (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that Mr E.M. O'Sullivan was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive force and frequency and consequently suspended him for 2 racedays having taken his previous good record into consideration.
