The Charles O'Brien-trained Rain Or Shine made it back to back wins when swooping late to land the spoils in the second division of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Handicap at Dundalk. Time Stands Still cut out the running in the seven-furlong contest but was collared inside the final furlong as Silk Cravat and Rain Or Shine came through to battle it out.
It was the later who found more near the line, for Ross Coakley, to record a neck success.
The Zoffany filly, easy to back from 9/2 in the morning out to 9/1, was following up on her win at Fairyhouse 17 days ago.
Coakley said afterwards:- “Charles was quite confident beforehand and said she was very straight forward.
“They had been riding her forward but they tried holding her up the last day and got the desired effect.
“We said we'd try something similar today and hope they go hard. It was a nice true run race, it suited me and she travelled in with real enthusiasm.
“It's tough going as it's riding quite dead and it was a long last furlong. It probably suited my filly because she's honest and she pulled away well.
“I rode her here during the winter. She's quite a tall filly and she definitely ride like she has strengthened. She travelled really well and when we straightened up she kept finding for me.
“She's probably filly slightly on the upgrade and hopefully there might be another day in her.”
