Punters with the foresight to have backed all of Mikey Fogarty's mounts since he graduated to the professional ranks, are showing a healthy profit, and the Wexford man returned to home soil to capture the Casey Precast Handicap Chase aboard Paul Nolan's Dick Dundee at Bettyville today.
Favourite backers are enjoying a good session and Dick Dundee became the fifth winning market leader in six races at the south eastern venue.
Nolan also owns the former point-to-point scorer and the eight-year-old has found his true vocation since launched over the larger obstacles, the previous course and distance winner following up a Listowel Festival success in this two mile three furlong event.
Fogarty looked happy that he had matters in hand from the second last, on the 4/1 shot, and once clearing the last safely he went on to defeat Toostrong and Letter Of Credit (his jumping was a bit of a mixed bag) by three and a quarter lengths and three lengths.
Nolan explained in the aftermath: "He likes that summer soft ground but when the handicapper gave him a mark of 120 after winning the last day and I thought that was him done.
"He's got a good pedigree and he's related to Paddy's Return.
"I don't think he will go on heavy ground but I might aim him at Leopardstown at Christmas. Hopefully he'll be sound in the morning as he's a horse that's had leg trouble in the past." (DM & EM)
