Noble Endeavour put a disappointing debut run well behind him, as he took the last at Leopardstown this afternoon, the Donohue Marquees Flat Race.
Trained by Gordon Elliott and ridden by David O’Leary, the son of Flemensfirth was well-beaten on his debut in a maiden hurdle at Navan earlier this month.
Available at fancy prices this morning (50/1 with Paddy Power), the Chris Jones owned gelding went from 33/1 to 25/1 on-course.
Having tracked the leaders in fourth, the successful bay made progress in the early straight and he hit the front over a furlong out, staying on well from there to score by three lengths. Windsor Park was sent off the 3/1 favourite and he kept on to take second under Derek O’Connor for Dermot Weld, while Lean Araig ran a fine race to finish third at 16/1 under Roger Quinlan for Oliver McKiernan.
David O'Leary said afterwards: "We thought he would run well, he is a nice young horse, and I would like to thank Gordon Elliott for giving me the ride."
The winner was purchased for €87,000 at the Goffs Landrover NH Sale in 2012.
