Too Soon To Panic (12/1) landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes (Listed) for trainer Fozzy Stack.

There was no joy for her year younger three-parts sister Ahandfulofsummers in the Cheshire Oaks earlier in the day (finished fifth) but it was a different story for this 4-year-old daughter of Gleneagles.

Chris Hayes bounced out to make the running but soon slotted into third place as 2/1 favourite French Fusion was intent on making it a good gallop.

The winner made her move turning for home and was back in front at the two pole, galloping on strongly to win by two and three quarter lengths from Empress Josephine (3/1) with the market leader one-paced in third.

A maiden winner at Cork last season, Too Soon to Panic is out of Scream Blue Murder who was a Group 3 winner for Tommy Stack.

“She deserved that. That's a serious piece of training and placing, I think,” said the winning rider Hayes.

“They kept her in training this season with the hope of getting black-type and to try and find a race like that.

“She's a valuable asset now and has her job done so I don't know what Fozzy will want to do. It was a brave call and good placing.”
