Battle It Out powered clear in the closing stages to score for father and son team Conor and Charlie O'Dwyer in the Nas Na Riogh Novice Handicap Chase at Naas.
The JP McManus gelding was produced with a well-timed run to tackle front-runner Shantreusse at the final fence.
He was soon in control after the last and asserted on the run to the line to post a comprehensive 13 length success in the €45,000 contest.
The 6/1 winner (9/1 this morning) was making just his second outing in handicap company over fences.
O’Dwyer senior said: “The conditions suited him. He wants soft ground and a bit of a trip. He jumped unbelievable.
“He got a terrible fall at Punchestown and learned a good bit from it.
“He’d a nice light weight today and I’d say they went a good gallop all the way, a proper test which he wants.
“He’s still only a frame and is a lovely horse to look forward to next year.
“It would be ground dependant where he runs and I wouldn’t have any thoughts of running him on good ground.
“We’ll see what Frank and JP want to do and be led by them.”
