Noel Meade’s Cheltenham Festival winner Go Native who was making his seasonal debut got off to a great start when he ran out an impressive winner of the Friends Of Tipperary Grade 2 Hurdle in the hands of Paul Carberry.

Carberry sent the son of Double Eclipse to the front before two out and the classy gelding kept on well from last for an easy three and half length win over Carthalawn

Winning trainer Meade said afterwards: “You could train this horse on a lead as he doesn’t take any work and he’s very clear winded.”

“He’s a very smart horse and he’s probably best when fresh. I don’t think he was at his best when finishing fourth behind Hurricane Fly at Punchestown.”

“He will go to Down Royal next where there is a race for second year novices and we’ll take it from there.”
