The Mouse Morris-trained Camino Rock got a lovely run up the rail to lead before the last and claim the concluding three-mile handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan.

The lead was swapped several times in the first half of the race with the eventual winner having a spell in front. Cruisin Susan led after the seventh flight but gave way before the last as Gavin Brouder produced Camino Rock.

The 8/1 shot soon asserted and stayed on well in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-quarter length win over 5/2 favourite Royal Cave

It was a welcome change of luck for Morris, who was saddling his first winner since last November, after For Fear Of Frost was fatally injured in the previous race.

He said:- “He had some good runs last season, but the horses haven’t been running great since Christmas.

“His future is over fences the way he jumps hurdles and it looks like he’ll stay all day there.

“It’s a bittersweet win and to be honest it’s hard to get excited. That’s racing as if it wasn’t hard enough!”
