Last year's impressive Goffs Million-winner One Look made a successful reappearance today en route to an as-yet undecided Guineas target, landing Cork's Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Race at odds of 1/20f.
The Gleneagles filly collected €616,000 on career debut when landing last September's €1.2m sales-race and today reappeared on heavy ground against four maiden rivals.
Held up fourth of the five under Bill Lee, One Look improved to lead over a furlong out and was pushed out to easily defeat 73-rated Action Plan by three lengths.
The 1/20 shot paid a generous €1.10 for a win on the Tote but a lavish same €1.10 dividend for a place.
Winning trainer Paddy Twomey reported “she did exactly what we were hoping she would do. We got her out, got her some exercise and education and it has gone to plan so I'm very happy.
“We had the plan in our head that we were coming (regardless of the heavy ground), she settled and quickened and it was pretty straightforward. I don't think I've trained many 1/20 shots!”
He added “that was her first piece of work for the year so we'll sit down and make a plan. We have a couple of more fillies to run so we will see where we go but she is in the Irish, English, French and German Guineas.
“If she runs in Newmarket (English 1,000 Guineas) she would go straight there but if she runs in Ireland she might run again.
“She is a lovely actioned filly, was ready to run today and I think she'll progress plenty.”
The successful Connolly Racing Syndicate includes retired Irish trainer Kevin Connolly - now based in Asia, with their racing colours being similar to those used by his family from yesteryear.
