Midterm Break caused a 16/1 surprise when taking the €200,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes at the Curragh.
Successful earlier this year at Southwell and Beverley, he failed to make much impact behind Tiggy Wiggy in a similar event at Newbury in July.
Trained in Yorkshire by David Barron and ridden by Graham Gibbons, the son of Intense Focus was never far from the pace here.
The €32,000 purchase kept on gamely inside the final furlong to hold off Explosive Lady by half a length, with 7/2 favourite Realtra just a short-head further back in third.
Gibbons said, “He took me into a nice position and picked up nicely. That’s definitely one of the biggest wins of my career!”
