Meade unleashes very good prospect
Unraced four-year-old Fickle Fortune hacked up in the concluding bumper at Down Royal as Nina Carberry steered her home by two-and-half-lengths in a canter.
The filly was obviously expected to show the benefit of her homework on the track as she was sent off 8/11 favourite and trainer Noel Meade was gushing in his praise of her afterwards.
“She’s very very very good and I mean very very very good. She hasn’t done that much work but she is very special. Once we keep her temperament right she is grand.
“She has serious speed, stays and goes on any ground. She will do her bumper stint here but she might go for the mares bumper at Aintree.”
Wexford owner Eoin Banville’s filly went into plenty of notebooks after this display.
9/2 second favourite Los Amigos won the race for second while 5/1 shot Jupitor took third.
Damien Skehan, rider of Wha Ya Like who finished ninth, received a four-day ban for using his whip after his chance had clearly gone.
