Eamonn Delany's Mater Matuta justified favouritism at her favourite track, Tramore, in the Frank Gillane Memorial Handicap Hurdle.

She now has five career victories with three coming in Tramore and the others at Bellewstown and Ballinrobe.

She moved into contention for Jordan Gainford on the approach to the penultimate hurdle and jumped it on terms with Fort Randall

She soon took a narrow lead from that opponent and popped the last nicely which saw her home by half a length at 3/1 from 10/1 runner-up Banada Bridge Fort Randall flashed home for third, a head behind the runner-up, at 10/1.

Alan Delany, son of the winning trainer, said: "We're delighted with that. She loves it here - I don't know what it is, maybe it's the seaside air, she's used to that at home.

"Just looking at the paper the other day and we had the best strike rate after Willie Mullins coming down here this weekend.

"We'll probably head to Bellewstown now in a fortnight's time for another handicap hurdle, it's very hard to get chases to suit her.

"We might bring her to the strand at Laytown after that."
