Denis Hogan's Malbas strode right away from his rivals to take the second split of the extended mile and a half handicap in Tipperary in the hands of Joey Sheridan.
Keen-running Swelltime who went off 9/4 favourite, picked up the lead turning for home but he weakened over a furlong out as Malbas travelled well into the lead.
Sheridan only had to push him out in the final 150 yards and his mount readily moved clear to win by four lengths at 'Burlington Bertie 100/30'. He was backed in from as big 7/1 in the betting show.
Lariat got the runner-up prize at 11/1 and was half a length ahead of Little Brother (9/1).
Sheridan said: "I'm three years riding and it's my first winner around here. I'm from the town so it's my local track and I've been coming here since I was very young. I'm delighted!"
He added: "He had trouble in-running the last day and came through with it today and hopefully he'll pick up another one.
"I'm delighted for the (Playground) syndicate, they are a good bunch of lads and enjoy the game and love this horse."
