Champion jockey Colin Keane, after third and second placings earlier on the card, rounded Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas Day at the Curragh off in style, winning the Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap aboard Newtown Anner Stud Farm’s Lust

Successful trainer Ger Lyons had two seconds himself through the afternoon but there was no arguing with Lust’s superiority from the front.

Also bred by the Clonmel farm, the successful Fastnet Rock gelding saw off Liffey River by two lengths.

“He's a real good fun horse and we'll pick our races with him during the season,” said Lyons’ brother Shane.

“He's not ground dependent but he doesn't mind that ground. He's a very honest horse to go and do that from the front, they were all hard at it behind him.

“Hopefully he could even strengthen up next year. He's a half-brother to Maker Of Kings and if he progresses like him you never know what could happen.”

G.P. Halpin, rider of Inca Prince trained by C.W.J. Farrell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stood on himself in the stalls and as a result of this he was slowly away.

The Stewards interviewed S.M. Crosse, rider of Liffey River (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence S.M. Crosse stated that his mount was hanging to the left and coming onto the heels of horses on two separate occasions when he used his whip for correction purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S.M. Crosse was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended S.M. Crosse for one raceday.
