Hudson's Bay wore down front-running Ballyadam Brook outside the furlong pole and kept on best to win the Benchmark Hospitality Handicap over a mile and six in Killarney.

Ballyadam Brook and Rory Cleary made a bold bid from the front to take the honours. The pair raced clear throughout but heading up the straight they were hard at work.

Hudson's Bay made good headway in the final quarter of a mile to come from fifth and slice through the field to lead with over a furlong to go.

Ballyadam Brook was swamped by three other horses - He's Our Man Bold Bid and Eye Of The Tiger - who tried to chase down Hudson's Bay in the final furlong.

However, Wayne Lordan was in the drive position and Hudson's Bay wasn't for stopping as he was ridden out to score at 11/2.

He's Our Man, the 9/4 favourite, closed in second to within a length and a quarter. Eye Of The Tiger (11/2) finished a length and a half further back in third.

Winning trainer Thomond O'Mara said: "The trip suited and the ground suited. He ran well in Galway but didn't really handle the track.

"That's as far as he'd want to go on the flat but he's well schooled over hurdles and that's where his future is."

This gave jockey Lordan a double on the card as he also took race two on Current State
