Talk The Lingo followed up on his maiden hurdle success at Roscommon last month as he took INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle under Barry Cash for Joe Hennessy.
The eight-year-old son of Revoque sprang a 14/1 surprise when running out a six length winner at Roscommon and he was sent off at 8/1 this afternoon (touched 9's on-course).
Settled in second he lost his place after the fourth last but got a nice run through on the inner at the next.
He hit the front shortly after that flight and kept on well under pressure from there to score by three parts of a length. Shantou Flyer kept on nicely after the last to finish second at 4/1 under Andrew McNamara for Colin Bowe while the 11/10 favourite Bosman Rule finished a disappointing fifth of the five finishers under Ruby Walsh for Willie Mullins.
Hennessy said afterwards: "My wife Bernie is the owner and breeder. We will see how he comes out of this in the next few days but he could come back for the three mile novice here in a few weeks.
"He didn’t do a lot when he hit the front. The fella that won the first race (Vote Of Confidence) was behind us when he won at Roscommon and he gave the form a boost."
STEWARDS REPORT
A.E. Lynch, rider of Fruits Of Molly trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost his action in racing and consequently was pulled up.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Fruits Of Molly, trained by Paul John Gilligan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have presented with a swelling on his right fore shin post race.
