Lemista continued a good weekend at the Curragh for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane when making it three wins from as many starts this year by landing the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes.
The Lyons/Keane alliance recorded a second classic win this term when Even So took the Juddmonte Irish Oaks yesterday evening, and they appear to have another smart filly on their hands in this progressive daughter of Raven’s Pass.
The 3/1 chance was produced to challenge over a furlong out, and kept on strongly after striking the front inside the final 150 yards to beat Lovelier by three quarters of a length.
Kiss For A Jewel kept on well on the outer a half-length further back in third, while the 6/4 favourite One Voice enjoyed no luck in running eventually finishing close-up in fifth.
Lyons said, “She’s different gravy on the racecourse compared to what she is at home and you could not get it soft enough for her.
“The fact that she’s doing this on ground that’s against her and she’ll get much further is great. I always thought she wanted a mile and a half.
“We took the view there was no point in having three in the Oaks yesterday when she had a nice chance today.
“She’s improved and improved on track. New owners have bought into her and my advice would be that she should stay here and enjoy the fillies programme until at least the end of next year as she will get her conditions here.
“She will get a mile and a half every bit as well as the filly did yesterday.
“Even So will probably have a prep after a break and then go for the Ascot race, and this filly could go for the same race. At that time of the year the ground could be heavy and this one will handle it as will Yaxeni.”
