Laverteen made the breakthrough on his sixth start over flights, as he took the Matchbook Betting Podcast EBF Maiden Hurdle.
Trained by Noel Meade, the son of Laveron won a bumper at Navan in March of last year, and was since placed three times over obstacles.
Toward the head of affairs throughout, the seven-year-old victor jumped three out in a share of the lead, and was ridden to the front after the next, keeping on best from there to prevail by two and three parts of a length. Presented Well finished second at 6/1 under Bryan Cooper for Henry de Bromhead, while the Gordon Elliott trained 1/2 favourite Getaway John could only manage a disappointing third.
Sean Flanagan was aboard the winner, and he said: "He wants very heavy ground and the ground is actually deader than I thought. He wants a bit further so I made plenty use of him. He is plenty fit and has done it well.
"He was a good winner of a bumper and is only doing what we expected of him.
"He had no major problems (since he last ran) but we just ran out of time with ground. He wasn't moving great so we just gave him the time he needed. He is a big horse and is a chaser in the making."
