Seamie Heffernan completed a quick 69/1 double at Tramore in the 1m6f handicap and, just like half-an-hour earlier on Moveable Asset left it until virtually the final stride to get Diamond Pro in front.

This proved a real triumph for the handicapper with plenty of the 12-strong field still in contention coming out of the dip. Knight Of Bangkok pulled his way to the front at halfway and was still at the head of affairs approaching the final furlong.

However a gang of rivals were poised to take him on, with Ocean Bright (6/1) striking the front inside the final furlong.

Meanwhile Heffernan was getting a great tune out of Diamond Pro (6/1) on the far rail, and the John Murphy-trained gelding stayed on well to pip the grey by a short-head.

Knight Of Bangkok (20/1) just held on for third nearly four lengths back at the line.

Heffernan was full of praise for his agent Ruaidhri Tierney, who was in attendance having trained the unplaced Boland’s Corner in this race, saying “I’ve a good agent and it helps when you are riding the best horse in the race.”
